AMAZING CAR GADGETS ON AMAZON (Wireless Car Backup Camera and Obstacle Alert System)
This is perfect for me. I drive a Volvo C 70 which is a convertible that the top the rear window and everything automatically goes back into the trunk so in order to get a wired back up camera installed in my car was going to be anywhere from $550-$850 that I could not do. This system is working perfectly for me ! I used an old iPhone so I could keep it in the car all the time. After reading about the Pearl back up system I read where if it’s stolen all you have to do is contact pearl and they WILL REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
Added Safety and Peace of Mind
I own a seven year old Honda CRV. It did not come with a rear view camera. I have envied other drivers with newer model autos and their rear view cameras. I researched several different rear view cameras before selecting the Pearl RearVision Wireless Backup camera. All the alternatives were less expensive and some came with portable screens and some required replacing the rear view mirror. They all needed to be hard wired in addition to being mounted. The Pearl RearVision camera mounts easily over the rear license plate. The camera is powered by a photo cell but it can also be charged through an included, onboard USB connection. The camera has two views, regular and wide angle. You can see both simultaneously. The rear view camera sends a wireless signal to a receiver that plugs into the OBD port. In turn it sends a signal to an iPhone or an Android phone. The rear view app can be downloaded from the Apple or Android store.
Initial set up was easy, but connecting proved more difficult. I had to call Pearl Auto for assistance. A courteous rep walked me through the procedure. He got everything updated and working. We had one problem. The rep needed the serial number for the OBD receiver. It is located under the metal contacts on the inside of the dongle. The serial number plate is miniscule. I had to take the dongle into the house and use a magnifying glass, even then it took me a while to locate. Once accomplished, the rep could give me the needed passcode.
The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth need to be activated on the phone. I have not used the camera at night, so I cannot comment on performance under low light. So far I am very pleased with the Pearl RearVision Wireless Car Backup camera. I park my car outside and it has rained everyday for the last two weeks and the camera has worked fine. It is expensive but I believe you get what you pay for.
After getting used to backup cameras in my newer vehicle I bought a used truck which did not have this feature. The truck is very long and has a back seat so it’s really difficult to see what might be behind you but the Pearl Backup Camera has solved the problem. Installation was easy and the range of view is great.

I own a 2016 F-150. I decided against the back up camera package and then regretted it a few months later. I searched high and low for a option that would work for me. There were plenty DIY kits out there, even some that need you to attach a module to the OBD port in the vehicle to reprogram the computer to get the settings for the camera. Im not sure about you but I lack trust when a third party wants to reprogram my computer. So I looked into Rearvision, mulled over it for about a month and got it. I figured they have the 30 day no questions asked return policy, might as well give it a try. It was super easy to install on the truck and I had a old iPhone 5s that I installed the app on to keep in the truck at all times. Ive had it for a month am Im diggin’ it. I dont use it all the time, just when Im about to back in a tight space or when the kids are out. Ive run into a couple times when the camera needs to recover. The night vision is great but my tag lights drown out the picture. I fixed it with tint film over the lights. I also see a little part of my bumper because of how far the plate bracket is. All minor things, nothing that has made me want to return it.
